Card Backlog!

It has been a while since I posted cards here. I have been making them, but finding time to post them has been challenging. Therefore, I am posting a bunch of cards made in the past few months with you today.

The first card is one using a commissioned digital stamp from Hambo Stamps. I sure miss their company's stamps! The image is a caricature of the Bedford County Courthouse in Shelbyville, TN. I love that it still represents the stateliness of the courthouse without going to cartoonish!

This one features a digital image from Mo's Digital Pencil. I think it is a retired image, but I think it is so cute!

This cat card was made for my uncle's birthday. I love the cats in this set! I am not sure of the company for this one. I got it online.

This was for a friend. I believe the stamps are from an older Stampin' Up set.  Loved the colors on this one.

Another birthday card for a friend. I am pretty sure this is also an older Stampin' Up stamp. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

Farmin' at the Hambo Hoedown

This week at the Hambo Hoedown, we got to use this fun Bear Farmer Digital stamp from Hambo Stamps!  I decided to break out my Prismacolor Pencils and color him up on kraft paper instead of using my usual Copic markers.  I'm not as savvy with the pencils, but I am getting better.  I especially love the look of the pencils on the kraft paper and thought this image would work well colored this way.

To play on the sentiment of "sewing what you rip," I decided to "rip" some paper to form the turned soil at the bottom of the card.  If I could have unearthed my sewing machine, I would have done some sewing on the strips as well, but I have been doing some re-organizing in my craft room and it is currently buried in my closet.  Why does it have to get messier before it gets better?

Anyway, hope you will join in with the fun at the Hambo Hoedown this week.  You will definitely have to check out the other samples done by the Bacon Bits.

I have had a snorting good time being a Guest Designer this month.  Maybe they will ask me back again sometime!

Back to School at the Hambo Hoedown

This week, it is back to school time at Hambo!  Using the studious School Dog digi image from Hambo Stamps, we had to create a school-themed card.

In my usual off-center manner, I decided to create something other than a card.  I found a really cute video explaining how to make a back pack and thought it would be perfect for this challenge!  Part of the challenge was to create something that featured the school dog digi stamp, one of the sentiments and one or more school-themed items.  Making a back-pack ensured that my whole project was school themed!  It comes complete with straps and a pocket.  HOW CUTE IS THIS???

If you want to make one yourself (these would make nice teacher treats-albeit a bit time consuming), you can find the instructions and video tutorial here.

Don't miss the school bell...head on over to the Hambo Hoedown classroom and check out the other great creations from the bacon bits!

Clowning Around with the Hambo Hoedown!

This month, I get to be a Guest Designer with the other Bacon Bits!  I am so honored to be asked to participate this month.  It is a bit of a flashback for me and I hope you have as much fun viewing my creation as I have had making it!

This week features the Clowns digital image from Hambo Stamps.  The challenge this week is to use the clowns image and one of the sentiments...sounds easy peasy right?  Well...there is a twist!  You have to use at least 3 patterned papers!  Now I love me some patterned papers, but this was a stretch for me!  I love to color and usually only use a singular patterned paper on my cards.  I definitely had to go outside my comfort zone.  I decided to print the image on some patterned papers and cut them out to paper piece parts of the image.  I had never actually tried that before and was surprised at how easy it was!

After I colored the remainder of the image with my Copics, I proceeded to cut out the pieces of the various patterned papers and add them to the main image.  Voila!  Just to make sure I had enough patterns on the card (I always was an over-achiever), I added one more for the card base!

I hope you enjoy the card!  Join the Bacon Bits over at the Hambo Hoedown and clown around yourself!  You will feel much better afterwards!!

FYI...I won't be able to participate next week as I will be visiting family in Tennessee, but I will be back for the rest of August! Wheeeee!  I can't wait to see what fun images I get to play with the rest of the month!

I won...I won!!!

I just won the "Best in Show" prize for my entry in the Hambo Hoedown Challenge from last week!  Woo Hoo!!!  I am dancing a jiggity-jig...or as much of a jig as I can since I had surgery a few weeks ago!  Check out the bling that was bestowed upon me for my card creation...

You can view my MAHVELOUS creation here.  Groveling accepted...(I am so humble!)  If you haven't played along this week, be sure to check out the challenge for this week.  See ya at the hoedown!

Hambo Hoedown Challenge Card

It has been a LONG time since I have been able to participate in a Hambo Hoedown Challenge.  Since I am recuperating from recent surgery, I decided to throw my hat in the ring!

This week, the challenge is to use bubbles in your card.  Some of the design team used the new digi set called Test Tubes by Hambo Stamps, while others just used bubbles with other Hambo stamps.  I thought the Test Tube set was pretty dang funny, so I chose to use it as well.

I had a lot of fun with this...I used a variety of bubbles (embossing and bubble DP).  I even used the Spica pens to add some glitter (AKA...tiny bubbles) to the liquids in the tubes and beakers.  Although you can't really see it in the photo, the larger beaker with the green liquid has a pop-up of the green liquid on top of the main image.  I rounded it out so that it looks like it is curved.

I am glad I was able to play along this week!  Check out the other samples and entries over at the Hambo Hoedown Blog!

Welcome to "Broadway Bound!" sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo customers and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict Broadway show titles! It might be our favorite, or just one that was fun to design. If you arrived here from Kecia you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose Broadway-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a hammin’ jammin’ way!  Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all of the blogs along the way. The winners will be announced on the Hambo company blog,
Talk to the Ham, on Tuesday, September 25.

We love comments any time, but the deadline for prize entry comments is Sunday, September 23 at 5 PM CST.  Don't miss it!

I don't know about you...but I have always loved doing Rebus puzzles.  This card is my take on a rebus.  It ended up being different than my brain envisioned, but I hope you will get it!  I am not going to share it out loud...I want to make you work for it! LOL  My card features the King Digi Stamp at Hambo.  The ampersand was done on the computer and the eye is compliments of some random Google search!

Now dance on over to Kris for another great Broadway show!

Just in case you get lost along the journey, below are all the links!  ENJOY!!!

You're Out of This World!

This is a fun birthday card for a former co-worker that is missed dearly!  I used a cute digi set from Hambo Stamps that has been on my "to do" list for some time, so I thought it would make a fun birthday card!  Sorry if the picture is a bit "wonky"...I am sleepy and didn't have the energy to get out my REAL camera to take a picture, so I used my phone.

The background paper is some from my stash, but I have long-since lost the strip that identifies the company....I thought it looked kinda out of spacey, so I went with it!

Tail Waggin' Birthday!

The daughter of one of my co-workers was celebrating her birthday this past week and I used this adorable digi stamp set from Hambo Stamps to make her a card. Entered this one in the Hambo Hoedown this week, so check out the other entries!

Celebrating Veteran's Day

I made this card a while back for my Uncle's Birthday.  Since I had not yet posted it, I thought putting it up on Veteran's Day was appropriate. I know there aren't any veterans left from the Civil War, but it is about celebrating those who have fought and those who continue to fight for our freedom.  I honor them today.  Thank you for your service to our country.

The image is a digital one from Hambo Stamps and is one that is dear to me. I am a descendant of a soldier who fought bravely for the Confederate Army.  My uncle has done a great deal of research on our Confederate ancestors as well as others, so that is why I chose this great image for his birthday.  I know he loved it!

House It Going?

This is the second time in recent days that I have participated in a challenge.  Last week, I played along with the Hambo Hoedown and like a big doofus...forgot to email my card as per instructed so that I would get the free digi stamp for this week...ARGH!  Well...rather than griping...I did the good thing and bought the digi so I could play along this week!

You can bet I will follow the directions COMPLETELY this time!  LOL

Here is my creation using the house digi and sentiment.  We were also tasked to use a common household item that you wouldn't normally use on a card. I dug through my toolbox to rescue two small nuts that were begging to be used as.........FLOWERS!  I colored them with a copic marker to give them some color and voila!   I drew in my own leaves and stems so they wouldn't be floating in the air.  I will admit that proportionately...they are BIG flowers...but it works!  My house is VERY colorful, but I figured a whimsical house called for whimsical colors.  It was fun!

Copic Colors Used:
House: BG000, BG01, BG02

Stone: C00, C0, C1, C2

Nursery Rhyme Fun

Welcome to the last Hambo Hoedown for May!  This week I got to play with the cool new Moonscape Background Digi stamp from Hambo Stamps!  Our challenge is to use this background and also use texture somewhere on the card.

I decided to do a fun card featuring the moonscape and their adorable farm cow digi.  I kept thinking that MY cow didn't quite make it OVER the moon...So, instead he had a little accident and kinda crashed into one of the craters on the moon!

For the texture aspect, I used a piece of handmade paper that has splotches of silver paint on it.  I thought it looked a lot like space and the splotches looked like stars, so I went with it!

I have seen some of the other cards made for the challenge this week by the Bacon Bits and you will LOVE THEM!  What a cool group of ladies.  GO BITS!

This is the last week of my tenure as a design team member for the AWESOME Hambo Stamps, but the new Bacon Bits are going to WOW you with their skills starting next month!  I can't wait until the official announcement hits the pig pen!

I have had a blast and will definitely be lurking and participating in future challenges as time allows! HAMBO STAMPS ROCK!!!!!

Easter Wishes

This is one of Hambo Stamps' newest digis called Flower Chick and I thought it was so fun! Since I wasn't going to be doing any real-life egg decorating, I decided to decorate this one! I decided to keep this one bright and fun! The paper is some I found in my stash and I am not sure who made it...I used my nestabilities circle die/scalloped circle die for the image and added some gel pen action for dots and faux stitching. There is some glitter pen on the stripes and dots of the egg, but it doesn't show up in the picture. It was late when I took the picture, so the lighting wasn't stellar either...

The ONLY sale in town!

When I first saw this storefront digi from Hambo stamps, I knew IMMEDIATELY what I wanted to do with this one! I ADORE chocolate...and I hate shopping...so the only sale that would bring me out is a sale on chocolate! And it would have to be a BIG sale! This cute Happy Lady digi from Hambo is perfect with this background image! When I was printing the digi storefront, I added the text to the image about the sale. That is one of the reasons I love digi stamps...you can add your own text to images like this!

This one was a ton of fun, but I ended up printing the background a bit larger than I anticipated so it was quite the coloring project! However, I LOVE the way it turned out! The Designer paper is some from My Mind's Eye-Fine and Dandy Collection.
