Weekend Card Extravaganza

Friday night was craft night with my friends and we did even more of the one layer cards!  I promise I haven't given up my markers...just having fun getting inky and actually stamping!  Below are the cards I created Friday night...

The first one features a stamp from Penny Black.  The sentiment is by Wordsworth.

While I had the blue ink out, I tried another version featuring two birds on a branch by Penny Black.  Sentiment by Hero Arts.

Next up I created two strips of color and then masked both and stamped over them.  I love this!  I will definitely have to try again.  I also want to try using some shapes (circle, etc.) as the sponged backgrounds.  Main image by Panny Black, sentiment from Stampendous.

Next card used a similar color palette, but I liked the background so much, I left it alone and just added a sentiment from Wordsworth.

The last one I tried something a bit different.  I did the usual inked acrylic block, but rather than stamping the main image in black, I colored the image with markers and then added it to the right.  I love the way it turned out. Main image by Penny Black, sentiment from Wordsworth.

These are SO gorgeous Melissa! I just made about 15 of them yesterday myself, thanks to you showing us how to make them. And it's funny to see the music stamp used in the background, because I was going to try that next. :) My cards are going to be used for card ministry, so I think the music will be a nice touch. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work and talent!

Thanks Monica! I am glad you were able to create so many cards! I love that I sparked something that you could use for your card ministry. What a great way to create many cards with so many variations possible!

Lynn...I am happy to share how I made them. I will be traveling for a few days, but when I return, I will create a step-by-step!

Love these cards - simple elegance! Please do share how you did them as I have a lot of Scripture stamps that would look lovely on a card like this!!

Melissa, just found your cards on Pinterest and I love them. Could you share your technique on how you get the various colors on the card? Thanks...

Hello Maureen,

I did a tutorial on an earlier post for one of them. Most of them use the same technique, just different color inks. You can find that other post here: http://melissascreations.blogspot.com/2012/10/one-layer-card-tutorial.html

Melissa I love these cards and the colour combinations. I have read you have posted a tutorial on how to create these effects using an acrylic block , inks and spritzing but haven't been able to find it. Please could you point me in the right direction or give me verbal instructions.
