Merry Christmas (Hambo Style)

Friends or Anemones?
I just love this saying from Hambo Stamps. I have had it for a while, but haven't used it yet. I think I was saving it for a very special card, so this one is it! The lobster stamp is also from Hambo Stamps. The paper is some really cool sparkly paper I got from a scrapbooking store at the Outer Banks. They had lots of really cool beachy papers (imagine that) and I am slowly working all of them into cards!

A Copic Marker NEVER Touched This Card!
I know...can you believe it??? I didn't use a single Copic Marker on this card. I wanted to use this funny saying from Hambo Stamps, but couldn't find a good stamp image to go with it. I had to think a long time on this one. My Copics were calling my name...but I was strong and resisted! LOL
Instead I used my new Snowflake Shapeabilities from Spellbinders to create a multitide of snowflakes for the background and let the phrase be the focal point. I used some veleveteen white paper and some silver paper, but it doesn't show up too well in the photo. It is dimensional fun!!!
Now if we could just get some snow...

Pumpkin Trio
I refuse to admit that Fall may be waning... To celebrate my stubborn streak, I made this card from two stamps from Hambo Stamps. The sentiment has a third line that says "Happy Autumn." I cut it off and included it on the inside of the card. I used some of the Basic Grey paper from the Halloween line.
Copic Colors Used:

Tilda With Candle
I adore this sweet new image from Magnolia Stamps. I couldn't wait to color her! I used some of the Basic Grey Figgy Pudding paper as the background paper and then pulled the colors from the paper to color Tilda. I wanted it to be soft, so I didn't use any really dark colors. I created a mask and used my air compressor to airbrush the background.
The ribbon was some velveteen holiday ribbon from my stash and I used the Martha Stewart branch punch for the foliage.

A Bit Frosty Outside
This is another image I won in the "Won and Done" Auction over at Hambo Stamps! I just think these cute faces are great! It has been a bit nippy here for a few days, so I thought it would be fun to color up something that seems fitting given the weather we have been having. Now if it would just snow!
The blue swirly paper was found at a scrapbook store when I was on vacation. It is supposed to be waves, but I thought it would make for blowing snow as well.

Why I Haven't Posted Much Lately!
One of my co-workers is getting married in January and as my wedding gift to them, I offered to make them a bunch of Thank You cards. Well, since I couldn't POSSIBLY do anything super simple, I had to color them with my Copic markers and do cool embossing on the papers, etc. etc.... Did I mention I was silly enough to volunteer to do 40....yes...40 cards for them?
I got swatches of their colors and used them for the background of the card. I used white satin ribbon to divide the colors and used my Swiss Dots and Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folders to give the paper some texture.
As for the cute image, I used my Copics (of course) and the swatch of sparkle across the bottom of the wedding dress and veil was my Twinkling H2O's.
Somebody please smack me next time I volunteer to do 40 of ANYTHING!

You Don't Send Me Flours....
I have been meaning to put a card together with this image and saying for some time, but it somehow got pushed to the back-burner. Both stamps are from Hambo Stamps and I just love the pun that is used. I kept this one super simple to feature the stamps. What a fun card to send to a friend!

I needed a card for a very special guy that volunteers where I work. He gave me a really nice gift and I just had to make him a card to say Thank You. Daisy Mouse Card

Blog Comments on My Site
I am the LUCKY recipient of blog spam comments today. I have deleted them from the comment sections and have reluctantly added the word verification feature to avoid that in the future. I am sorry you will have to do that, but I want to avoid getting pages of spam comments.
Tuba-licious!
This card is for a friend of mine who plays tuba and I couldn't pass up this digital image from Hambo Stamps to make him a card! I used a few of the Spellbinders Nestabilities to make the shapes and some bright lime green giant ric-rac from my stash. I thought it really brought out the green of the snail. I also brought out my Just-Rite Stamper to make the phrase. I can't wait to send it to him! I hope he doesn't check out my blog in the meantime....

I recently saw a post on Dustin Pike's site asking for cards to be sent to a young boy who is battling cancer. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do a good thing for someone! Marching Band Girls
My oldest niece is a proud horn player in the Overton High School Band in Nashville, Tennessee. When I saw these images from Bella Stamps, I knew I had to have them so I could make her a card! The stamps are MUCH smaller than I expected, so they were quite a challenge to color with the Copic Markers!!! I am so proud of her! By the time this card posts, I will have flown home to Tennessee to see her march in a ball game and in the Contest of Champions! When I was in high school, our band used to march in the Contest of Champions, so it will be neat to be in that environment again!!!

This image from Magnolia Stamps is so cute! I used some of the paper from Basic Grey (June Bug collection) with the cute doggies on it and decided to play with it a bit. Code Monkey Birthday
This card reminds me of my brother...He is a computer guru and we used to laugh at the scene from A Christmas Story when Ralphie comes down the stairs in his bunny suit! Lighthouse Birthday
I made this card for my mom to give to my brother for his birthday. I forgot to take a picture of it before I sent it, so I had mom scan it so I could post it here. I had the image all colored up and it was mom's idea to add some actual sand from the beach on the card. We glued some sand and a tiny shell we found on the beach to the card to give it some depth! I think it turned out really nice! Stamp by Stamps Happen, Inc.

Campfire Kids
I think this new digi-stamp from Hambo Stamps is a scream! I wish you could see all of the sparkle in the flames of the fire! The background paper is one of the new Basic Grey papers from the fall collection and I thought the tree branches in the top looked like more fire coming out of the image. The sentiment is also from Hambo Stamps, but I cut it apart so that it would be in a line. You might not be able to see it well, but I put a little brad above the one boy that says "Boo!"

This cute stamp and sentiment from Hambo Stamps would make a great get well card, or just to simply wish someone well. I adore the cute bunny peeking out from behind the well. Design Team Challenge
Hambo Stamps recently issued a challenge to the design team members to come up with a card inspired by a song...using Hambo Stamps of course!!
Being a classical music lover, I am not super familiar with the pop/rock/country music titles, so my first card was inspired by an aria from the opera Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo. Loosely translated, the title means "the clowns." Therefore I decided to use Hambo's cool digi-stamp of the clowns. I used the first few words of the aria "vesti la giubba" (put on your costumes) to help explain things a bit.
Copic Colors Used:
Noses: R22, R24, R27
Teals: BG01, BG02, BG05
Yellow Greens: YG11, YG13, YG17
Oranges: YR12, YR14, YR18
Reds: R22, R24, R27
Yellows: Y32, Y35, Y38
Border: YR0000, RV000
My second card was inspired by the song "Sea of Love" by the Honeydrippers...an oldie goldie, but I immediately thought of the cool ocean and fish digi stamps. I wish you could see the sparkle of the Copic Spica markers used... The hearts were hand drawn....

Baby It's Cold Outside
This adorable piggy is from the Hambo Stamps line and I love him! I used my snowflake cuttlebug embossing folder for the sky on a glossy white cardstock. The patterned paper is from Bo-Bunny and the dew drops and the yummy chocolate velvety ribbon is from my stash. I used my Stampin Up tag punch and wrote "Brr..." with a white gel pen.

Halloween is For Suckers
I love this sentiment from Hambo Stamps and it will be equally fun to use with the vampire pig! I decided to use the same background paper from Heidi Grace Designs as I love the color palette. It was fun to color the suckers (also Hambo Stamps) using the purple and orange colors. The ribbon is from my stash. I colored nad cut out extras so I could pop up the sucker and ribbons on each. The ribbons were a beastie to cut out, but I wanted the extra dimension, so I suffered through! What we do for our art!!!!!
Copic Colors Used:
Suckers: V12, V15, V17; YR12, YR14, YR18
Bow: YG93, YG95, YG97

Vampire Piggy
I couldn't resist coloring another Vampire Piggy and doing a different layout with him. There will probably be a few more using this cutie from Hambo Stamps. I thought this patterned paper from Heidi Grace Designs was too fun to pass up. I used the spiderweb cuttlebug embossing folder on the lime green paper to give it some texture. The shimmery brads are from Little Yellow Bicycle.
Copic Colors Used:

Fang You for the Treats
Is this not the most adorable trick-or-treater you have ever seen? This vampire piggy was so fun to color! The image is from Hambo Stamps and was colored with Copic Markers. I used some paper scraps from my stash and had a lot of fun with this color combo. The black rectangle was embossed with the Cuttlebug spiderweb embossing folder. I also used some "boogley-eyes" at the bottom to accent. I realize now that the eye paper rectangle in the upper left corner is upside down...Oh well...it still looks fun! I added some spica pen to the neck of his cape and inside the mouth and eyes of the pumpkin....I just wish they showed up in the picture.
Copic Colors Used:
Cape: V05, V06; R43, R46
Pig: R000, R01, R11
Pumpkin: YR12, YR14, YR18

I'm BACK!
I know....it has been a long time since I have posted anything and I am truly sorry! For those of you who know me, my job is with Eastern Music Festival and the summers are CRAZEEEE at best! While most folks are chillin' out in the summers, I am running in high gear until early August and then I collapse. I have had a full week off and am starting to feel a bit human now, so you can expect to see many more posts in the coming weeks. I am on vacation until September 1st, so I will be busy making lots of goodies for Hambo Stamps and playing with some new stamps I got at a convention in Winston-Salem!
My first post is one that I couldn't resist. Since I am mostly gray-headed now, I can relate to this one! The manatee stamp and the sentiment are both from Hambo Stamps.

Manatee: W0, W1, W3, W5, W7

What's up Chick?
This card features several stamps from Hambo Stamps that I just adore! What a fun set of "chicks" these are! What a perfect card to send someone just to say hello! The paper is by Basic Gray...it is older paper called Recess. Even though it features numbers as the background, I thought it had a chicken wire kind of look to it that would be perfect for my chicks!
Copic Colors Used:

Stay Cool!
This combo of a digi-stamp and a two traditional stamps from Hambo Stamps was too good to pass up! The digital stamp of the winter scene complete with igloo and iceberg was probably not meant to be used in this way, but what fun is it if you do things the TRADITIONAL way all the time????? The snorkel boy is sitting exactly where I would like to be.... I am SO NOT a hot weather person, so this is my idea of a perfect way to stay cool!
I used the cuttlebug water drops embossing folder and finished it off with some cool ribbon from my stash.
Copic Colors Used:

Popsicle Stand Drama
This stamp from Hambo Stamps is such a fun one! I kept the card simple so the image was front and center! I added the big popsicle as an homage to what was no longer available at the stand! In real life, I would be the one emptying the wrappers! The paper was from a summer stack of patterned paper and I used the swiss dots cuttlebug embossing folder for the "grass."

In Memoriam: T. Scott Cunningham
One of my dear friends from high school passed away recently. I remember him most from my high school band days. He was one of the snare drummers and was always well respected.
T. Scott Cunningham was a year older than me and I have very fond memories of him. Not only was he a very successful percussionist in the band, he was also an extremely talented actor. He was always one of the shining lights in the Shelbyville Central High School productions. The one that stands out in my mind was "The King and I." I always knew that he would go on to be a great success, and he did.
I was looking through some of my high school memorabilia and found this fun photo of some of the band members after we won the MCI contest in 1980. Scott is at the bottom, 2nd from the left. What a celebration this was! The percussion section also won best in the competition...
Scott had many roles on the big screen and on television, but his passion was the theater. I wanted to create a very special sympathy card for his family and felt compelled to use one of the new digital stamps from Hambo Stamps. While their images are all humorous, I felt this one could be used in another way that would allow me to share my sympathy with the family, but also pay tribute to Scott and all that he left with us during his time here on earth.
Scott, may your spirit live on through all of the lives you touched.
